Journaling Our Heart
Journaling our heart in communion with Holy Spirit creates a deep spiritual experience, a journey into the depths of Love. It is a place where we write down our deepest desires, hopes, dreams, hurts and disappointments, sharing them with the lover of our soul, expecting a response. It is a place where nothing is off-limits. God already knows everything about us anyway. When you write your questions, concerns or words of adoration to Him, expect Him to answer. Don’t be too eager to leave these moments of communication.
Journaling His heart is a place of intimate communion where He shares His thoughts, feelings, impressions and words. Yes He longs to share words with us, words of encouragement, instruction and even correction. Sometimes we expect some mysterious voice, but for the most part Holy Spirit speaks to us in our own voice. Many times the thoughts of God, especially when positive, are dismissed as simply our own imaginings, while the lies of the enemy of our soul are accepted as fact.
No Need To Be An Expert
There is no need to be an expert writer, no need to know proper grammar, and no need to feel inadequate in any way. Don’t pause to fix punctuation or grammar mistakes. This is a time for free writing. Let your thoughts stream from your heart, from His heart. God is waiting to hear and speak. He longs to fill the blank pages held within the tablet of your heart.
First write a few sentences of gratitude, expressing your love to the Lord. This opens the door, breaks down barriers, freeing you to express yourself. Let the thoughts and emotions come to the surface. Don’t try and push anything down into a place of denial. Express your fears, your failures and your successes to Him. He has answers and encouragement for everything.
I have found that a time of quiet worship and meditative prayer opens my heart up to hear the still, small voice of God as He speaks to me in gentle whispers. For example, try the song I Exalt Thee. Tell Him all the reasons you exalt Him and He will tell you all the ways He loves you
During these times when you enter into your quiet place of worship keep a journal, a bible and pen handy. As a matter of fact, it is best to keep a journal of some type with you at all times. He may give you thoughts which need to be explored later.
Times of Bible reading are also fertile ground to hear His thoughts and instructions. Alone time with God creates a sea of opportunity. Pick a verse or daily devotion, mediate on it, pray and listen for Holy Spirit to speak. This is separate from the above mentioned scripture search. We need not wait or feel we should only journal when in a place of trouble or emotional need. Holy Spirit is always there desiring to give instruction. Take advantage.
As you spend time in worship, the Lord may remind you of a time in your childhood. Whether you remember a painful or joyful experience, listen and write down the words Holy Spirit speaks to you. Let the Spirit of the Lord speak gentle healing words to any painful situation that wounded you when you were young. Write as if He is speaking to a child. As these words are written and you read them out loud healing will take place, freeing you in your present.
Write your concerns in question form, then stop close your eyes and listen. If you still struggle, imagine the Lord telling you how much He loves you. Write down His words of love which you know are based on Scripture. For example: I love you with an everlasting love. You are My heart’s desire. I just want you to know I am for you and not against you. Open up and let Me pour My goodness into your life today…
Conclude your journal entry with some questions for further reflection based on what He has said to you, or with specific points of instruction He wishes for you to walk out in your everyday life.

“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring about the future you hope for” Jeremiah 29:11
Indeed, He knows what is best for me and I will obediently heed to His call.. The perfect planner that He is, I will yield to His will. All I ask is the grace of patience, a listening heart always attuned to his promptings. I submit myself and will float like a feather in the wings of His love and leadings.. .just let me fly light that I may reach your heights!
Dear Lord embrace me tight…
Lord, I thank you for allowing me to come across this website. My prayers and my devotions have made wonderful transformations in my life. Slowly, with patience and the grace of a humble spirit, I emerged from my cocoon
Looking back, it was from darkness to light, from pride to humility, from chaos to order, from confusion to peace.
No amount of words can express my gratitude for being able to write freely what my heart dictates to express my love for You.
Healing had taken its place, is still taking place and soon I will be the person You want me to be. A big thank you.
