“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

You kept hounding me with Your relentless love, whispering in my ear across the seas and mountains. Yes, my thoughts are upon You, Lord. It seems there is nothing the eyes can see that does not have relevance in You.

A Holiday of Sweet Communion

Amazing is Your presence Lord. My consciousness can’t get away from You. My finite mind cannot fathom the depths of our togetherness. Our love must have been inter-twined as I went on what I thought was simply a holiday with my family. Obviously You had other plans because it became a day of intimate communion the Holy Spirit.

The place and people didn’t matter. All seemed interconnected. All seemed planned by You. Everything seemed aligned with Your presence. How awesome is Your power and how intense is Your love for us? It is greater than our finite minds can comprehend, for it will take all of eternity to discover the depths of Your being. Your Word says we can’t begin to conceive Your greatness or the magnitude of love shed upon us, yet I while on a simple holiday was became immersed into glimpses of Your Glory.

Signage Along The Way

Prior to our trip I read Brenda’s devotion on Journals of the Heart about butterflies. The devotion described how we, like butterflies, are to carry the pollen, the nectar of God’s presence everywhere we go and knew in my spirit√Ę‚ā¨¬¶change would be coming to my life. Like the butterfly in the devotion, I would be emerging into my destiny in some way. Glen, my husband, knew about the “Butterfly Devotions” I had been reading for the last week. Because of this our minds were connecting as our trip was intended by the Lord to be more than a holiday.

There many signs presented by the Lord all along the way. By divine appointment we met a former office mate of Glen’s and for forty-five minutes he was able to share with Glenn the availability of work possibilities and the many advantages our destination offered.

And guess what, right in front of us, as we arrive at Changi Airport in bold print, a large sign with the words “Change Is On The Way” almost seemed to shout a proclamation of God’s intentions.

Signs And More Signs

The icing on the cake was the sight of a caterpillar, three butterflies and leaves laden with dew. What a pleasure it was to behold in the wee hours of morn in an unfamiliar place. The signage from God was awesome and so bold it seemed to be talking to us. My husband gave me a meaningful look as he noticed the same signs everywhere. He knew all about the butterflies and their importance to me.

I took a pen and wrote down something as we moved to the immigration booth. My son was teasing me when I asked him to take the first shot of his assignment. “In the middle of the night?” he asked with his usual joking gestures.

Surprise Of All Surprises

Your presence was made manifest. All went well, no hassles, no hindering blocks, all in harmony to the sweet melody of Your abiding love. We were moving as one, focused on doing and at the same time drowning ourselves with the sight of the beauty of Your creations. The meaning was in-depth.

Yes the printed word on the sign had indeed proclaimed “CHANGE IS ON THE WAY!”

My mind was wondering what visible signs might await us in the hotel. Surprise of all surprises, a big antique frame with butterflies of the same kind and color painted on cloth prominently hung in the lobby. Butterflies again?

The Private World of Butterflies

Butterfly, Butterfly, Butterfly! The butterfly farm is amazingly beautiful. It is excitingly interesting to be trapped in the private world of these winged, multicolored, swift, and unique creations in the midst of God’s natural creation. Flowers of exquisite blooms are their nourishing agents. Trees and plants too many to count are their sanctuary. Commingling and co-habitating, they thrive in a way of wonderment that gives joy and pleasure to a weary visitor. Dear God, You are a wonderful Maker!

They hover; they fly unmindful and unafraid of human presence, displayed in an array of colorful and sturdy wings. Some are small, some quite big. They form little communities and are identified in uniformed colors. Being with them is like being in a fairy land.

They exhibit oneness with each other in a unique way, hanging in clusters at the mercy of the strong and wide leaves. How they attuned themselves to the pleasure of others’ presence. Mindlessly unaware of human presence intruding in to their private world, they move, sway, flutter and display their selves in playful moods. Their exquisite wings are so intricate in design and color. God, You are a perfect painter.

It is a private world of harmony where they coexist with one another. The flowers lend color to their wings and the nectar they sip gives life. The waterfall makes the plants vibrantly green and fresh.

Flowers abound and each beauty has its own attraction. Our eyes wonder with amazement but none seems competing with each other. There was harmony and the giving of each other. Indeed, it is a perfect world to coexist, to love and to co-habituate.
You Are A Perfect Creator And Planner.

Wide-opened eyes, smiles and approvals to oohs and ahs dominate the atmosphere as human voices of appreciation compete with the rushing water of the mini-waterfall. The rocks are moist and the moss is green, as thick as velvet.

The Little One In A State Of RESTORATION

Seeing a tiny butterfly in array of deep blue and tiny dots of red and yellow touched my heart. My son noticed the broken wings and with a pitiful look, he took a snapshot before the tiny one could fly away. What a pity! It is in recovery. The wings are broken and it seemed helpless as it clung to the wide leaves. “Take it and make sure it’s well taken care of.” I said.

My son shared my worry that it might not survive. “Do you think the wings can recover before the life cycle is completed?” He asked. I was smiling and happy that he remembers his lessons in science.

I answered “God has a way.”

I was moved by the strength and courage of the little one. An angel must be nursing it. It reminds me of human brokenness, of loneliness, of sufferings, of helplessness. So tiny and frail, its only hope is God’s caring hands. It seems to look up to heaven pleading for help, for strength and courage to go on.

I made another turn and went back to find out how it was doing. I was amazed to find it still where it was when Jay took its picture. It never left its little sanctuary. The shade of the tree nurses it and the leaves became its bed. The mist freshens the surrounding and like a balm of healing gives hope of recovery.

In a day or two, it can fly again and will complete the life cycle. Like man, it will go on until its mission is done, is finished as a sign of obedience to God’ will.God’s grace surely abounds and is available to support us in times of need and want.
Surely, His grace is sufficient and His power is perfected in our weakness.

My Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Your presence is sweetly intertwined in Your love for Me As You promised, like a butterfly, I will fly and hover in the garden You have prepared for me. My wings will be strong and beautiful. You will nurse me with the sweet nectar of Your caring and unfailing love. The time of Your perfect plan has come. My heart is ready. Thank you for the transforming grace that will enable me to do Your will. My heart is fully prepared to embrace that: “CHANGE IS ON THE WAY” Amen
