My God Of Infinite Compassion

By Tess Martinez

“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: ” Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:1-2 Amplified)

You, Oh my God, are a God of immeasurable and limitless pity and compassion.

While so called friends shy away in times of troubles, YOU gaze upon me with all Your love and care. YOU alone my Lord are ever faithful and true to Your unconditional Love. When all is well, friends celebrate with me, laugh with me and stay close to me. Where have they been in my moments of misery? They are gone to protect themselves from sharing my agony and trouble.

When Peter denied you during your trials, YOU must have felt the human loneliness of being unaided. You know and understand how it feels. Your forgiving heart made YOU forgive Peter for YOU know all prophesy must be fulfilled to give way to Your Redemption.

It is never easy to forgive my Lord. Human as I am, I looked back at my emotional investments given to so called friends. But, with Your grace, my unforgiving and stony heart will turn into a heart of flesh. Forgiveness will take the place of resentment and anger. Your love and peace will take its place into my heart.

The mockery You experienced when they put you on trial is no less than the mockery and accusations most people experience in life. Have pity on the oppressed and the misunderstood. Society seems cruel to the less fortunate.

It is never easy to understand how some so-called churchgoers in the traditional church can be so judgmental and oppressive to those You love. How self righteous they can be, yet You love them just like You love me! Help them and keep my heart pure. Let me have the same heart You.

My heart bleeds whenever anyone is placed in a predicament and becomes too helpless to defend himself. When someone is never given the chance and suffers condemnation, I cry for Your intercession.

All things work for good for those who believe (Romans 28:8). You used those difficult experiences to lovingly teach me to be fair and square. To be more empathetic and compassionate is Your call for me against injustice and unfairness. When human beings become less humane, I cling to Your sweet loving heart, a heart which understands affliction.

“In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old” (Isaiah 63:9 NKJV).

You Are My Safe Anchor

“HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” (Psalms 91:1-2 Amplified)

In a world of confusion, disloyalty, infidelity, and betrayal, I slow down, I step back. To some extent, it seems pointless but the reward is enormous. You, O’ Lord, are my safe anchor. In the sea of confusion and turmoil of a chaotic world, a tired traveler of life finds a safe landing and strong anchor in Your Sacred Heart.

Where can I run to in moments most confusing? No where but to You. Teach me to be quiet and still in the midst of chaos. Truly, in silence, we find Your peace and serenity. May You quiet our hearts when turmoil comes. May You hide us in the deep recesses of Your solace when we feel restless. You are my resting place.

You Complete Me

“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tire.” (Isaiah 40:31 Amplified)

Having nothing but my humble self, I live with all inadequacies, but You complete me. You infill what is missing. You replace what is not desirable. When I have You, I have everything. Your forgiveness makes me whole again. What peace and solace there is whenever I am in constant company of your Love. I desire for nothing more.

In Your loving embrace in my sweet moments of grace, You are my sweet song, my lullaby. In my sleep so sound, You soothe my soul. Sin will never separate me from You, for a life of grace with You is a piece of heaven on earth. I have a glimpse of Your brightness in my moment of solitude. When I am alone with you I bask in Your Fullness!

A sweet glimpse of Heaven among your angels, that’s how it feels! Transcendent! Awesome!

Just A Whisper

There is no need for an appointment, yet You are the King of Kings. How available you are! Not even a phone call, a letter or an email√Ę‚ā¨¬¶ just a whisper and You are there! When I turn my thoughts to You, I will take rest and refreshment in Your presence. I will find freedom from the troubles of my daily chores and preoccupations.

You free and will free my heart from worries as I give my full trust to You. In my solitude, I will feel Your caress to my longing and thirsty soul. All I need is openness and willingness to be available to Your stirring in my interior. Again, the grace to abide in Your invitation to commune is because of Your infinite love for me. All I ask is, “Let me have a listening ear my dear Lord.”

  1. Tess: What gifts you and Brenda have been to me in the last few days. What a blessing this site has been, and how grateful I am that Brenda hears God and was obedient in creating this site. What a blessing and so much a part of the healing process so many of us need. It is as if God is leading His people to this site as part of His healing plan for our lives.

I have always “marched to the tune of my own drummer,” which can cause you to be alone. It makes you different, like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Like you I have wondered why you have lots of friends until the troubled waters arrive. It seems that they always expected me to be there for them, but I found myself alone as soon as the storm appeared on the horizon.

While I often thought I was alone, after time I realized that I was not. A woman with a prophetic anointing was at a church I was visiting several years ago. She looked at me and said, ” You have always been alone, but yet you were aware of a presence even as a small child. God wants you to know it was the presence of the Holy Spirit that was with you.”

Reading your story in “God My of Infinite Compassion” reminded me of that. I had nearly forgotten it. Think of the wonder of it. A lone child playing alone, but not alone for God loved her enough to surround her with Himself.

    What an awesome God.

  2. Veryl,
Yes, I agree with you, Tess is such a blessing and has been an immense help to me. She has added so much to this site.

We are never alone because He knew us before there was ever an earthly time. How awesome to be in God’s heart before we were ever born. We have never been alone.

I agree! What an awesome God!

  3. Veryl and Brenda,

What an awesome and all knowing God we have! Just before I opened my email, I finished my new devotion entitled “The Gift of Silence and Solitude”.
God is dearly providing what we need to minister to each other.
Coincidence? Absolutely NO… It is God working among us because we believe in His compassion. It is His love for us that links us. Truly, we can lift our heart towards each other in prayers. The line is interconnected as if we are teleconferencing and the satellite base is the thrown of GOD.
How wonderful are His workings among us!
