Build An Ark, The Rain Is Coming

Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you shall make it (Genesis 6:14 NASB)

Through The Eyes Of A Child

On January 13th 2009 I was sitting in my car with my 10 year-old son Daniel listening to some music by Alberto & Kimberly Rivera while waiting for the bus to come. It was a cold and windy morning so we snuggled in the warmth of the car and spent some time with the Lord.

Daniel and I always pray and recite Scriptures before his bus comes. When we have time, we listen to music and ask the Lord to speak to us about our day or our family. Daniel often sees pictures of what the Lord is saying and doing for our family and others. This day was no exception.

As usual, I asked him if he was seeing or hearing anything. With a smile, he told me, “Just a little something.”

I laughed; knowing his “little somethings” often left me with my jaw dropped in amazement, so I encouraged him to share it anyway, small or not.

Here is Daniel’s vision in ten year-old vernacular because it is so much sweeter and more pure.

“You know how…have you ever seen those movies where they show crystal cities…cities made up of all kinds of clear crystals? I saw something like that only it was an ocean…an ocean floor full of all kinds of crystals and angels were coming…they were sent by God to pick up the crystals. They picked up the crystals and began to carve Scripture verses into them…that’s all.”

Knowing Daniel as I do, I asked him, “What are they doing with the crystals once they engrave a Scripture on them, and who are they for?”

He told me, “They are for everyone and the angels are reading them out loud after they carve the Scripture in the crystals. By the way mom, I see one of the verses they carved into the crystal and it is Genesis 6:14. What does that Scripture say?”

I grabbed my Bible and proceeded to look it up but the bus came before I could find it and read it to him. He told me to just wait till he got home and I could read it to him then.

After he climbed onto the bus I looked up the Scripture to find it was where God told Noah to build an ark. Instantly my spirit witnessed with the verse even though I was not quite sure why. What did building an ark have to do with me and my family or anyone else for that matter? I sensed it had something to do with the uncertainty of the times we live in but had no revelation other than this.

Instructions, Covenants & Obedience Equal Fulfillment

I called my long time friend Angela Gill to tell her Daniel’s latest vision and via our conversation I was able to discern the Lord wanted me to build an ark for my family…not a physical ark but a spiritual ark of some kind.

Angela had a dream some time back and the Lord told her if she could walk out Psalms 26 she would not be moved or suffer judgment in the upcoming upheaval. Her revelation sparked questions in my own heart. I wondered if Psalms 26 was to be Angela’s ark, then building my own ark could be simpler than I thought, in theory at least.

While fixing my breakfast I meditated on Daniel’s vision and Angela’s revelation when out of the blue Psalms 15 came to the forefront of my thoughts. The Lord’s still small voice said to me, “Psalm 26 is Angela’s ark and Psalms 15 is your ark.”

After I heard this I knew I was to read a bit further than Genesis 16:4…not much further though… because as soon as I read verse five I knew what I needed to know in order make progress in my own ark building skills.

Verse five is the verse in which God begins to give Noah detailed instructions on how to build the ark. If Psalms 26 is Angela’s ark then it must hold specific instructions for her just as Genesis 6:14-22 did for Noah. And what about my Psalms 15? Definitely a Selah moment.

These verses in Genesis 6 not only established physical instructions on how to build an ark but were more importantly a promise…a covenant given by God to Noah and his family…a covenant honored and fulfilled by God through the obedience of Noah (Genesis 6:18, 22). God gave instructions and made covenant. Noah listened and walked in obedience. As a result he and his family were kept safe, reaping the fulfillment of God’s promise to them.

Can the obedience of “one” make the difference for a whole family…a whole nation? Just ask Jesus. He made a difference and still does and He did it living as a man walking out a life of abiding in and being obedient to the Father. And now He lives in us and we in Him, thereby creating the ultimate ark. Just another Selah moment.

Building on Angela’s revelation, I also came to realize constructing an ark in these days may have nothing to do with physical things like making sure you have extra food supplies, saving extra money or going to live in a remote place as many are doing, although it can be.

It is not to say you shouldn’t do any of these things. You should if the Lord gives instructions to do so. Everything you do, whether it is to build an ark or just live daily life must all be done in response to daily instructions given to you as a result of abiding in Him and His Word. Taking all the physical precautions in the world will not save anyone if they are not where they are supposed to be or not doing what they have been asked to do.

We must all be in the ark of His choosing and not on a rooftop hoping someone else’s ark will come by and save us when the rain comes. Just ask the five of the ten virgins if depending on someone else’s preparedness was enough (Matthew 25:1-10)?

In Remembrance

My remembrance of Psalms 15 was not without great significance; because some four or more years ago the Lord put Psalms 15 on my heart and I began mediate on it with the idea of developing a Bible study called The Immovable Life. Somewhere along the way I became distracted and never completed it.

However, during the last four or so years the Lord has often reminded me of certain aspects of said Psalm which He has clearly instructed me to walk in…things He required of me that I have not been doing or have done intermittently. He reminded me of the promises He made to me and how they would be fulfilled if I would follow the instructions found in Psalms 15.

I believe I have missed out on a lot of blessings by way of neglect and disobedience but now is no time for wallowing in self-pity. To do so will only to continue the unprofitable process for me or anyone else in the body of Christ who has done likewise. What is done is done and His mercies are new every morning. The time has come to repent and move forward leaving the past behind. We must press on to the high calling we all have in Christ. It is what He died for and He wants us to take advantage of it.

Now four or so years later Psalms 15 is back on the front burner and can no longer be ignored if I want to see the manifestation of all God has promised me in past days in reference to this Psalm as I am obedient to it.

It is going to rain (it is raining) and I need an ark…we need an ark…you need an ark. Angels carved the first instruction in a crystal in my son’s vision saying, “Build an ark!”

Per Daniel’s vision, the Scriptures are for everyone…and that includes you. Does all this mean you should mediate Angela’s Psalm 26 or my Psalms 15 to build your ark? Not at all…but maybe. It does mean the Lord has something to share with you. It could be something out of your past He has already spoken to you just like He spoke Psalms 15 to me or it could be something completely new. It could be a Word you have heard at church or online somewhere. It could be a Psalm. Take some time and listen…He is speaking…He is giving classes in ark building.

How Do You Build An Ark Anyway?

How does one build an ark of covenant and deliverance in these times of trouble and turmoil? By doing what Noah did…by doing what I am doing…by being obedient to do what you see the Father doing and saying.

I repented for taking His previous instructions to me so lightly and whole heartily embraced them once again. I am now working on The Immovable Life again with the anticipation of learning more about how to build the ark of covenant He has for me and my family in troubled times of great upheaval.

Ask, listen and He will answer. Once you receive God’s Word to build an ark, His instructions will come. They will be tailor made for your life and will be accompanied by His covenant promise. All there will be left to do is your obedience. Remember, it is not God who breaks covenant. It is only us who do so through neglect, unbelief or disobedience just to mention a few.

Final Thought

One final thought of encouragement. This is not a word for a select few, for those who have been the most obedient in the past, for the super spiritual or any other category you might imagine. The command to build an ark is for “whom so ever will. “ It is a now Word for you because rain is here and more is coming.

One Response to “Build An Ark, The Rain Is Coming”

  1. Hi, Brenda! I guess I know what you’re up to now! This is awesome! What a blessing to have Daniel and his incredible insights. Wow!! This word is very timely of course, and I’ll be asking the Lord about what our ark is too. Thanks so much for sharing this! The Lord’s been doing some shifting with me too, and I’m picking up the book He inspired me to write a couple of years ago, and I put it down because I was afraid I wouldn’t do it right. I know I have to do it by faith, so here goes. Be blessed today, as you rest in Him and hear His voice. I really appreciate you. Hugs.
