Take Your Thoughts Captive for Disappointment and Discontentment Are Insidious Foes

Word of the Day

Beloved, disappointment is such an insidious little fox, sneaking in before you realize it. It always waits patiently for you to be distracted from Me. It can take the simplest irritation or unfulfilled expectation, turning it into a mountain of frustration, and throw it over you like a wet blanket of discontent. Once a door is open, layer after layer of wet blankets are applied, weighing you down, robbing hope, faith and joy.

Once this happens, gratefulness, thankfulness and contentment are nowhere to be found. I have instructed you to be content in all things, all circumstances. Contentment is birthed out a heart of thankfulness and trust in My inherent goodness which cannot change.

Discontentment is an open door, leading to frustration, assumption and finally supposition. When you encounter situations and attitudes outside the sphere or scope of your influence, allow a time of communion between us. Without it, you tend to follow the dictates of the flesh (Romans 8:13).

During these times and struggles you must take your thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5). If not, you will find the road back to peace laden with intense humility, even though accompanied by My grace and mercy. Look for any open doors of disappointment that may have lodged in your spirit. Speak forgiveness to yourself and anyone or anything involved. Tell your spirit to receive mercy and grace. Tell disappointment to flee and peace to rule in your spirit, soul and body. I am waiting to flood you with immeasurable grace, mercy and favor. Let go! Read Complete Love Letter…

[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), (2 Cor 10:5 Amplified)

Prayer

I surrender my thoughts to the Word of God. I take every thought rising up against the Word of God captive. Every disappointment I give to You at its very inception, before it has time to grow into discontentment, bitterness or resentment. Little disappointments build line upon line so I am on guard and tell them to flee as I embrace Your peace. I trust in You and You alone.

I do not trust in my own abilities to fix anything. I trust only on Your Word and wisdom. I choose to have a thankful heart in all things for I am like You. I forgive myself and others. I release myself and all others from blame for there is no condemnation in You. I am an overcomer. I rest in You.

Reflect and Journal:

1. What particular thoughts seem to go over and over in your mind like a bad movie? Take them captive to the cross of Christ and its resurrection power.

2. Practice a time of prayer and thankfulness. For every negative thought, replace it with several things you are grateful for. It builds faith.

  1. 1. Aha! What thoughts of disturbing nature don’t go over and over at times, in the mind of discontent. Get rid of them, overthrow them, as Jesus will lift the burden from you and use his power ro dissimulate them. Even pain…as I was burdened this afternoon with remnants of my eating at Wendy’s. I gave all the pain to Him, My Savior.. Take it away, I said. Finally, peace and calm prevailed.I felt renewed.
    2. I am in the process of praying more, not only for myself but for others. I do thank my Savior for my life, my beloved husband, my home and our means of transportation. Where would we be without a car? I don’t forget to be thankful, as I know and believe that He would want us to realize that our good comes from Him. I feel He rejoices when we are happy and consoles us when we are unhappy. After all, He is our Creator and we are His beloved children.
